Office McGuyver: Choco-Nut Matzo Brittle

From Martha Stewart's website

So today at work I caught the last 3 minutes of the Martha Stewart show and she was showing a quick snack tip: chocolate covered matzo.

She drizzled melted chocolate on to the matzo and tossed some roasted nuts on top. You break into pieces like brittle and enjoy.

I watched, utterly enthralled. And as the segment ended and the credits rolled, I turned to my right elbow, where on my desk perched a box of matzo. My coworker, Michael, had given me two boxes after Passover and asked me to morph it into something tasty. Working the slavish hours we do around here, the first box just got slathered with peanut butter late at night.

But I had one box left.

Then I remembered my other coworker, Carlos, had been lamenting about a canister of roasted almonds he had bought for a snack the other day. He didn't like them for some reason and they were just sitting on his desk.

I knew I had a 2lb bag of chocolate chips and a brand-new box of Maldon sea salt sitting at home so I quietly slipped the box of matzo into my purse and demanded that Carlos hand over his almonds. When asked why, I said I was going to make something delicious out of it. Immediately my other coworker Angela said "Give it to her Carlos! She's going to turn your almonds into food for us. Give it now."

Carlos relinquished his almonds and they too were slipped into my purse.

Its not about the pantry anymore, ladies and gentlemen. Its now about what's in your CUBICLE!

Tomorrow, we will have Chocolate Almond Matzo Brittle!

Choco-Nut Matzo Brittle

5 sheets of plain matzo
2 cup of chocolate chips, melted
1 cup of chopped roasted nuts
Good sea salt or kosher salt

1. Melt chocolate chips in an ovenproof bowl in the microwave. Start at 1 minute on high and check every 30 seconds and stir until completely melted.

2. Take a spoon, fork or spatula and generously drizzle the melted chocolate over each piece of matzo.

3. Immediately sprinkle the tops with chopped pieces of your favorite nut and a pinch of sea salt.

4. Allow to cool on the counter or throw into the fridge/freezer to allow the chocolate to harden. Break into large bits and enjoy! Great for holiday gifts too.

Wow. You scare me. Now if you had figured out a way to actually make this while at work, I think your coworkers would be both awestruck and terrified.

Actually, you COULD make this at the office - just melt a Hershey bar in the microwave and bash the nuts with a stapler! Its pretty much the same thing.
